A double room including breakfast for NIS 240 - this is the rate for Palestinian guest rooms in the West Bank. About five million tourists visit the West Bank every year - a surprising figure considering that their entry is controlled by Israel completely. Here is a glimpse of Tamar, social TV reporter, to the guest houses in West Bank.
With the publication of the Arrangements Law for 2019, the activists of the community channel were informed that the Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Communications had abandoned them. Following the threat to close the channel, the activists mobilized and put pressure on the government and Knesset members until eventually the proposal to stop funding the channel was removed.
Today at Ibn Rushd square in Al Khalil Hebron, Palestinians gathered in
solidarity with all Palestinian prisoners held inside Israeli jails. The
demonstration was organized by the Palestinian Prisoners society and
attended by the president of the society Amjad Najar, members of
political factions and members of the Prisoners Association. The
demonstration was an outright rejection of Israeli pressure on the
Palestinian authority to cut salaries for the families of Palestinian
prisoners inside Israeli jails. Also, to support Palestinians under
administrative detention who are currently boycotting the Israeli legal
system. Israeli military courts have a 99.7% conviction rate and those
held under administrative detention are done so without charge or trial
which can be reviewed every six months for indefinite periods of time.
128 out of 480 administrative detainees are from Al Khalil Hebron.
Soldiers accost two international activists this afternoon as they stand on a street corner near a school in Al Khalil/Hebron. They claim to be the peacekeepers while trying to kick internationals off an open street. Later when two four-year-old children play near by the soldiers yell and scare them off before accusing them of throwing rocks at international activists. Soldiers often play the savior role while treating all Palestinians, even four-year-olds, as if they are guilty of terrorism. The blatant brain washing of the Israeli occupation forces is clear in this video.
Israel has intensified military training in the Jordan Valley since Nov. 2017, reducing available pastureland, destroying crops and hurting the livelihoods of local Palestinians. In this time, B'Tselem has documented 6 instances of training near residences, 2 right among the homes. This is part of Israel’s effort to drive Palestinians out of the area using a callous policy that also includes denied access to development and infrastructure and house demolitions. If residents do leave because of this policy, Israel will have committed a war crime and those responsible, including the minister of defense and the prime minister, would be personally liable.
