August 22nd was the first day of school in occupied Palestine, but when
these kids showed up for class, there was no school to be found.
One
night before school was set to start, Israeli forces came and
dismantled the school in Jubbet al-Dhib and confiscated everything
inside, with the exception of a few dozen chairs.
Now these kids,
who live in a remote village outside of Bethlehem, will either have to
make a six-kilometer trek to the nearest school or try to learn out in
the open air.
