"An Israeli court on Wednesday is to decide the planned route of the
concrete barrier which is also known as the Apartheid Wall. The wall
would cut through ancient irrigation systems used by the village of
Battir. It would separate residents of the nearby Beit Jala from their
olive gardens. A local Christian community will also be divided as a
result. Palestinians have been holding demonstrations almost every week
against the construction of the barrier in the West Bank. They say it
will separate their land and isolate their villages."
