"Armenian Patriarch Nourhan Manougian
is in the West Bank town of Bethlehem to give his blessing to the
faithful ahead of Christmas.

Armenians worldwide celebrate
Christmas on January the sixth. But the small Armenian community in the
Holy Lands uses the old Julian calendar to determine the date of
religious feasts. Meanwhile Greek Orthodox pilgrims have gathered along
the banks of the River Jordan for Epiphany ceremonies which celebrate
the baptism of Jesus. Biblical scholars say John the Baptist baptized
Jesus at this spot which is the third most important site in
Christendom."
